Beth Megill
PAST PRESIDENTS’ ADVISORY COUNCIL

Beth Megill, MFA in Dance UC Irvine, BFA UC Santa Barbara, Language of Dance® Master Practitioner and Teacher Trainer, Certified Elementary Labanotation Teacher, Artistic Director Megill & Company, is a nationally and internationally known teacher in dance notation and online dance pedagogy. She also teaches a variety of dance styles including Modern, Ballet, Tap and Jazz in person at Moorpark College. She also regularly enjoys teaching Dance History, World Dance Cultures, Dance Appreciation, Improvisation, Choreography and Performance and Production. Under the umbrella of Megill & Company, Beth creates new dance works with her notation literate company and fosters dance literacy through Chapbook style publications of motif notation scores called Portable Dances Vol. 1 and 2. She founded ladancereview.org where she writes reviews for dance performance in the Los Angeles area. She is an advocate for making dance accessible, diverse, equitable and universally practiced. Her expertise in Language of Dance® and Labanotation supports her advocacy work in getting dance literacy integrated into dance and core classrooms as a tool for deeper understanding of movement, conceptual thinking, and creative expression. She aims to foster well-rounded artists who are open to new opportunities, growth, and expression.
